Appointment/ Registration

As a rule, you will have been referred to us by your GP, gastroenterologist or oncologist or by another hospital. However, of course you also have the option of making an appointment yourself by ringing our central hotline to talk to Elisabeth Hecht, our specialist oncology nurse. You can contact us Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00 under this number: +49 (0)162 – 253 5867. In emergencies, you can contact us 24/7 by calling the Duty Surgeon at +49 (0)761- 270 24010.

What happens next?

After registration with our oncological office (+49 (0)162 – 2535867), you will be given an appointment for your initial presentation in our joint interdisciplinary oncological-surgical consultation for patients with pancreatic tumours, where you will be advised jointly by a surgeon and by an oncologist. This interdisciplinary consultation always takes place on Wednesdays from 14:00 to 18:00 in the University of Freiburg Department of Surgery.

Preparation

In order to make the best use of the time to this appointment at the Pancreatic Cancer Center Freiburg and to ensure that your first appointment at the Center is as effective as possible, we need to have the results of your examinations that are necessary for planning your treatment by the time of your appointment.

To enable us to establish which examinations are required, a member of our medical staff will get in touch with you shortly after your registration and, if required, also with your GP. On this occasion, initial questions on the cancer and the anaesthetic risk as well as on the possibilities of cross-sectional imaging diagnostics may already be answered.

Interdisciplinary pancreas consultation

After this contact, we will arrange your appointments for the required special examinations and the date of your presentation in our interdisciplinary pancreas consultation.

When you present yourself in the interdisciplinary consultation, all diagnostic findings will be discussed together with the treatment options. In the consultation, you will be looked after by an experienced pancreatic surgeon and an experienced oncologist. The important aspect for patients lies in the interdisciplinarity - i.e., all questions that are important to you are answered in a joint consultation. In this consultation, you can ask any question regarding your treatment; in addition, our aim  at our appointment is to suggest to you a complete treatment concept, individualized to your requirements, which allows you to benefit from the entire range of treatment modules on offer.
