The protection of your personal data throughout the entire interaction process with our systems is very important to us. We want you to feel safe when you visit our Internet pages.

In the following, we explain which data we record at the University of Freiburg Medical Center during your visit to our website and how these data are being used.

Personal data

Personal data means any information concerning the personal or material circumstances of an identified or identifiable individual. These include data such as first name and surname, address, date of birth, state of health, information about medical treatment etc.

Data that are no longer directly or indirectly linked to a particular person, such as websites visited or the number of visitors to a particular page are not personal data.

Collecting and processing personal data

Whenever you visit our website, our servers automatically store certain communication data. This is done exclusively for reasons of system security. Use and disclosure of personal data

Information from our company

Subject to your consent, we would like to contact you to inform you about offers and further news and services. For that reason, we ask you to state whether you want to receive direct advertising from us when you register on our website. Naturally, your access to our public information remains unaffected, whether you consent or not.

Use of cookies

We use session cookies to store data pertaining to the technical session control in your browser's memory. These data are not person-specific and will be deleted when you close your browser.

Should an isolated instance arise which compels us also to store personal data in a cookie, we will obtain your express consent beforehand. Standard browsers generally have functions for cookie administration.

Security

The University of Freiburg Medical Center takes all the necessary technical and organisational security measures to protect your personal data against loss and misuse. We do not use an external service provider for your access to our website. All of your data are stored in a secure operating environment. This area is not publically accessible.

In certain cases, we use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology for the secure transmission of your data. This allows the encrypted transmission of information. If your browser supports SSL technology, data are transmitted in encrypted form.

If you wish to contact us by e-mail, we would draw your attention to the fact that the confidentiality of the information transmitted cannot be guaranteed. Third parties can view and modify the content of e-mails. We therefore ask you to send us confidential information only by post. Please remember that medical information is very sensitive data; it is in your own as well as our interest to make sure that such information does not fall into unauthorized hands.
