Interdisciplinary tumour conference
Adequate chemotherapy after the surgical removal of the pancreatic carcinoma can significantly reduce the risk of the tumour recurring. Also, the role of the medical oncologist is decisive in cases when a tumour is no longer primarily operable or when tumour growth recurs after surgery.
In Freiburg, these prerequisites are ideally realized through a highly specialized pancreatic cancer centre through the close cooperation between the University Medical Centre Department of Surgery and the Tumour Biology Centre under the umbrella of the Comprehensive Cancer Center Freiburg (CCCF), which has recently won a national award. The cases of all patients are discussed at an interdisciplinary tumour conference with specialists of all concerned disciplines to offer them treatment of the highest scientific standard
